Experiencing Abundant Life by Relating with the Lord who is the Way, the Truth and the Life
God wants you to experience abundant life. Come see how.
Towards the end of His earthly ministry, the Lord shared a Passover meal with His closest disciples. He shared many key truths about the Kingdom of God. So when it came time to ritually clean His hands, He surprised them all! He illustrated through demonstration the way by which the disciples would share God’s love and serve one another. So He served them in humility by washing their feet. If that didn’t startle them enough, He said something even more striking.
“I AM the Way — and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 JNT)
RELEVANCE
The Lord revealed that He not only is the true way or path to the Father and eternal life, but is the source and way to living the promised new life of the Spirit.
The apostle, Paul, shed additional light on this reality. He revealed that if we have been united with him in a death like His, we will likewise be united with him in a resurrection like His. (Romans 6:4)
So as we intentionally receive the active presence and grace gifts of the Holy Spirit, we can suppress our carnal sinful tendencies (lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life). This in essence is allowing them “to die.” In doing so we exercise our faith in the Lord, trusting the Holy Spirit to provide strengthening grace enabling us to rule over those tendencies. Therefore, we become united with the Lord in His resurrection, and live in Him; and in the grace and power of His resurrection. So we live in His way, through His truth, experiencing His abundant life!
Truly, no single day of atonement, verbal confession, collection of good works or blood sacrifice can satisfy God’s righteous requirements for the remission of sins. There is no way to reconcile our sins with a righteous, perfect God and make amends for transgressing His law. We only accomplish it by coming before Almighty God with brokenness of heart and humility, receiving the love and amazing grace of the sacrificial blood atonement of the Lord, Messiah Yesuha-Jesus.
