Receiving the Amazing Grace of God’s Peace by Relating with God through the Lord’s Feast of Tabernacles

TRUTH AND PURPOSE

The Feast of Tabernacles provides a great visual aid, revealing the rest and peace of God that God designed for you to experience. So the eternal plan of God included a marvelous way for us to celebrate God’s love and experience His rest. He, therefore, designed a week long appointed time He called, Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles. It marks a special time for resting in God’s love.  It was established to, “rejoice before the Lord for eight days.”  (Leviticus 29:40)

So the Feast of Tabernacles is a Sabbath’s Sabbath! On the one hand, it marks a time to rest from one’s labor. In addition, it serves as a reminder of God’s favor and care extended through the long wilderness journey before crossing into the Promised Land– and experiencing the Promised Life.

It also serves an even greater purpose today of facilitating a real love feast, or special time to appreciate and receive the pour of God’s love! So it facilitates a time of special reflection and celebration. Therefore, you more appreciate how God has strengthened you by His Word and Spirit. Consequently, you are enabled to truly enter into His rest and enjoy real peace of soul!

RELEVANCE

The Feast of Tabernacles points forward to the permanent peace the Messiah Yeshua-Jesus offers to those who believe in Him and accept His love and righteousness. It brings us to experience His peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Even further, it points to an eternal peace with God.

Hear His voice. He declared, “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  (Matthew 11:28-30 JNT)

Paul further encouraged believers to be strengthened in faith, for it is by faith that we have access to the Lord’s grace and the gift of peace.

So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom (peace) with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. 2 Also through him and on the ground of our trust, we have gained access to this grace in which we stand; so let us boast about the hope of experiencing God’s glory.  (Romans 5:1-2 JNT)

We all seek God’s peace. God purposes to bring us to a state of rest on the inside. It’s called shalom; a sense of being fulfilled by God– a sense of being whole. Paul illustrated how seeking God will result in finding the God of peace… who offers the peace of God!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9)
