Discovering God's Way and Will

by Seeking His Heart

We desire more than anything else to find God's will as it relates to the many facets of life. For, life is always changing. God therefore, challenges us in little ways to seek Him and enter into a more intimate relationship with Him! He truly wants to be found by us. The thing is He is nearer than we think!

Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
(Isaiah 55:6)

He stirs us, though, because He wants to reveal secrets to us--secrets about His will for our lives and secrets about His personal covenant with us. God's promises are truly ours to receive. He wants us, however, to earnestly value His word and His goodness.

The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.
(Psalm 25:14)

We too often take God and His word too lightly. He wants to make sure that we really do want to know His truths. He tests us by waiting as we continuously knock on the door to His heart!

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."
(
Matthew 7:7-8)

God knows us. He knows our frame. He knows that our human nature is to get to the point where we are at a total loss of what to do on our own: where our efforts matter little; where we have exhausted our resources; where our intellect fails us; where people and life disappoint us; where pain of heart becomes real; where without His relief and divine intervention, we are hopeless.

Researchers call this a state of "learned helplessness." It evolves as we experience continued events which cause us to feel helpless. Helplessness leads to hopelessness which leads to stress and anxiety.

It is out of love that He, therefore, waits for us to come to such a place of loss where we long for Him; where without His intervention--His presence--we don't see continuing. For, He wants to bring us to a broad place; the place where we are willing to rely on Him and trust in Him; the real place of His presence, the place where His kind of divine relationship is real to us.

He, therefore, wants us to knock--so He can open the door, and reveal the length and breadth of His covenant, and will for our life. For He has plans He desires we participate in.

Embedded in God's covenant is a pattern He designed to serve as a blueprint of the way He planned to relate and engage with His people. This pattern is illuminated through the seven Feasts of the Lord.

The apostle, Paul, relates in Colossians 2:17, a shadow of things that are coming, but the body is of the Messiah." As shadows, they may be viewed as a reflection of a blueprint illustrating God's plan of engagement revealed through the Messiah.

Psalm 85:13 relates how His footsteps are our pathway. The PATHWAYS TO ZION process, therefore, serves to illuminate ways to discover the love of God, know Him intimately, relate to God and engage with Him, and find His will.

In seeking God, there are various questions you will address, and issues you will take up with God. The Bible has the answers. The Holy Spirit is your teacher. The PATHWAYS TO ZION guide will help you along the journey!

For, the PATHWAYS TO ZION grid marks a multi-dimensional path of engagement with God. It in essence, facilitates a path of study and process of reflection and spiritual growth across six different dimensions, each following God's general pattern.

Horizontal Approach

Choose from any of the 7 horizontal tracks, and move across the grid focusing on one topic at a time.

Vertical Approach

Do an in-depth study across the 7 vertical tracks, moving through the grid at your own pace.

Spirit-led Approach

Allow the Holy Spirit to direct your study as specific topics are relevant to your walk of faith and spiritual growth.
